The You Made It! Jamboree will have a booth at the Maker Faire (May 22 – 23, San Mateo County Event Center). We’ll be in the Sequoia Hall. Stop by, if you’re up at the Faire (and you really should go, it’s going to be great!) The San Jose Mercury News published a nice article, with some great photos, about the You Made It! Jamboree. Here’s the link. The You Made It! Jamboree will be happening next Saturday (May 15th) at the Palo Alto Art Center from 1 to 5pm. You can see over 50 student creations, several student performances, a Tesla car, and solar ovens on display. And there will be half a dozen hands-on activities, if you want to get into the creative spirit. Parking will be tight, so we recommend you ride your bike. And if you do, there’ll be an activity area were you decorate your bike. Tell your friends. Tell your families. See you there! The entry period for the You Made It! Jamboree is now been extended until March 31st. We’ve already received a lot of sensational entries. However, we’ve also been getting feedback that people are still just learning about the Jamboree and would like to have more time to get entries submitted. Those students who submit entries by the end of February will be notified at the beginning of March about their status in the Jamboree. Students who sumbit entries in March will be notified the beginning of April about their status. So now there’s more time for you to get your entry in! The You Made It! Jamboree is all about celebrating innovative and creative ideas. Now Tesla Motors — who knows a thing or two about innovation and creativity–has graciously agreed to display one of their cars at the Jamboree.
Dale Dougherty, Editor and Publisher of Make magazine and one of the founders of the Maker Faire will share his enthusiasm for the Do-It-Yourself mindset with the students of the Palo Alto Unified School District on Thursday, March 4th at 7:30 in the District Office (at 25 Churchill Avenue). Come hear how the faire got started, get a preview of what’s in store for this year’s faire and get inspired to participate in the You Made It! Jamboree. Find out more information on Dale’s presentation here. The You Made It! Jamboree in now accepting entries for the May event. Tell us all about your creation. Click on the Enter Your Creation link.
